Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002)

This is the story of three aborignal girls who are taken from their homes in 1931 to be sent to a training school. Instead of staying to be analyzed regarding their race and schooled to learn domestic housework, the three escape and follow the longest fence in the world to find their way home.

Beautifully shot and always subdued, the story is interesting because of what it reveals about what went on in Austrailia in those years, and also because it's based on a true story.

While I didn't feel emotionally invovled, I enjoyed watching the girls use their instincts to survive. I'm not sure about the hoopla of award nominations and wins, but it is a good movie.

I just recently watched this one too and I felt like you did. The story was good and it was really well done but I felt no emotional connection to the girls at all. I thought it was just me.

I thought it was a great movie, and since I am an emotional nutcase, I cried.
