Since moving to Colorado, Lucas and I have mourned the loss of one of our favorite Midwestern landmarks: the QT. Having spent countless pitstops on roadtrips between KC and St. Louis, KC and Columbia, and just stopping by the one down the street from our old apartment, it was like an old familiar friend. When we realized that QT has not branched out to Denver, we were at a loss for words. What would we do without over 1,000 combinations of drink flavors? What would we do without the well-lit and familiar QT parking lot? Not to mention the always clean restroom facilities? We have tried to make do--there is a Shell station about 1/2 a mile from our apartment here in Westminster. I was there today, in fact, for the "gas sale." Yep, that's right, their gas was "on sale" today. Never before have a seen a sale on gas, but I wasn't about to pass it up--it was priced at $2.00/gallon, which is the cheapest I have seen since at least last February. However, even with their fancy "sale" and attempt to draw in the customers with the addition of a Popeye's chicken branch located inside, the Shell is still no QT. The past 2 times I have ventured inside, the soda fountain has been out of order. Even if it was functioning, it feels like a waste of time to have only 6 choices of soda flavors. Where are the vanilla and cherry flavor add ins? Where are the 5 types of icees? And the new frozen steamers? How can I make a frozen steamer and rootbeer float if there isn't even any rootbeer??We miss the QT.~Kelly
