I Don't Understand This

November 3rd, 2004

Alright everyone, how come is it that Bush wins, and if you voted for him you are a complete imbecile. I think all you people out there think that there are no good reasons at all people should vote for Bush. Well I will say in return to that, there are no good reasons for voting for Kerry. So HA. I win. I mean I am right aren't I. This is America, where if you say something it is true and absolute. Well I guess if you are in the minority it is. Because that is what all of you people who voted for Kerry are, a minority. There was a majority this election. It was for Bush. More voters agree with Bush, than with Kerry. Also the is no controversy about this election. No "Hanging Chads" or "Pregnant Chads". There is nothing that you can complain about in this election, except for the fact that you lost. And lost close. Kerry had a very good campaign. No one thought that it would be this close in April. Kerry had a chance, but didn't win.

I take great offense to people who say that whoever voted for Bush is an idiot. I would like to say thanks for calling me an Idiot. I also hate it when people I know say that you are an idiot if you vote for Kerry. I hate that just as much. I hate it when people turn it into a religious thing as well, when Republican = Christian, and Democrat = Heathen. Not true at all. I get this a school a lot and gringo's post, reflects that view. Today people think you can't be a Christian and be Democrat. Wel 30 years ago you couldn't be a Christian and be Republican, Richard Nixon. I would not hesitate to vote outside my party if I felt like a person did not reflect my views, and a person in another party did. I would not hesitate to change parties if I felt like the Republicans alienated their views, and my views. That is the great thing about America, we can vote any way we want. We can have different views and a difference of opinion, and it is not against the law.

But I digress, quit calling people idiots because of who they voted for. Only for the reason they voted for them.

Gringo's post was a joke, and a very funny one at that. I think the majority of Christians vote republican, and some of them do so rather blindly. They want to legislate morality. What's next? Are we going to start making premarital sex illegal because the Bible says that is wrong? Drunkenness? I respect your opinion man. I disagree with some things, but I respect you.

Smiles: I don't think you're an idiot. Some people who voted for Bush are, I know that first hand. But I could say the same thing for Kerry voters. And I know of a lot of smart people who voted for Bush. I can see that there are good reasons to vote for Bush. I just think that the most important things, the things that Bush has the most control over, give me reason to vote against him. I wish Christian=Republican wasn't true, but you know that a lot of Christians think it is true.

Brendo, they did not ban homosexuality, just homosexual marriage. If they banned homosexuality, and started arresting people for it I could see your point, but your analogy is flawed. Also public drunkeness is illegal, as well as other drunk behaviors.

wtf? did you take offense to the cartoon? goodgrief. by and large christians do vote "republican." so who started calling who an idiot? where the bloody hell did you get that from? hell, i laughed my freaking butt off when i saw the cartoon because you know what? it rings true to some of us, it's funny... i laughed. i laughed at the idiocy of some of the voters, i laughed at their shortsightedness... i laughed at their ignorance of issues, i laughed because a lot don't know their butt from the hole in the ground, they don't realize what kind of system we're locked into. that's another great thing about america, i can post cartoons that ironically ring true to me. i can laugh at all the sheeple.

I wasn't mad at the cartoon, I was just saying that it shows that there are people who think that republican = Christian, which I don't agree with. People told me at school, your state may suck, but you are ok, referring to my vote and how my state, Oregon, voted. The idea that your political party somehow saves you frustrates me. One more thing, most things I heard from Liberals this election were not, why you should vote Kerry, but why it should not be Bush. I think they should have focused on Kerry more.

we're in a two party system smiles, think about it. lesser of two evils, that's all we're left with. the same went for the repubs, "look at scary kerry"... it goes both ways.

Well, I know it goes both ways, but I heard a lot more vote for Bush becasue Bush has done... rather than for Kerry most everything went Vote for Kerry because Bush has done...

i'd argue that that's your biased perspective. you think bush is/was doing a good job, you have very few objections while i've got plenty and i'd be happy to name them for you. again, i realize the system that we're locked into. it's a two party system, it's a two party debate, etc. i voted the lesser of two evils. kerry wasn't great but man, compared to bush... woo boy, he made Kerry look really freaking amazing. again, it's a two party system. *surprise!*

The map is fantastic, I actually made the same one in one of my classes earlier today. Talk about a coincidence! Two more things: It's true that you can be a Chrstian and a Democrat. I am. However, the majority of Republicans/Christians do not realize this. They see issues of morality as black and white. "The Bible says gayness is wrong. That means there shouldn't be gay marriage." Just because the Bible doesn't agree with homosexuality and most Christians don't either, doesn't mean that you can't support the equal rights of people. That's one example of many grey areas out there that most Christians/Republicans don't take the time to think about. Also, as far as welfare being legislation of morality, there are some differences between it and the restrictions that most conservatives are trying to pass. Most other (conservative) legislation is under the idea of "you can't because it's wrong." The idea of welfare on the other hand is an attempt at preserving freedom. The US as a whole doesn't believe in equality, but equality in opportunity. The welfare system is to ensure that the less fortunate have an equal opportunity. It isn't an idea of "you can't because its wrong," its an idea of "you have to in order to make the American Dream ideal more possible." Let's not forget that most revolutions (Russian, French, Chinese, Korean, Cuban, etc.) happen because there is too much difference in wealth between the rich and the poor. :-)

Guess no one knows the religious makeup of the United States -- by estimate -- 99.9% of voters are Christian -- now if you get to differntiating being practicing and non-practicing there might be a point in the arguement

Yes, if you voted for Bush you are a complete imbecile. That is completely true. Psychologically speaking, birds of a feather flock together. Bush is a dodo bird, it’s only right that the rest of his flock be dodos. Anyway, it’s people like you who put words in the mouth of the masses. No one ever said there was no good reason to vote for Bush. Killers have good reasons for killing, thieves have good reasons for thieving, and the Bush administration has good reasons for both of these. Immoral as they may be, we have all come to agree he has clever rationale for doing what he’s doing. As far as everything being said being true and absolute, that is the reason Bush was able to get into office. His propaganda beat the Democratic propaganda. The republicans lied about the service of both candidates, about the possibility of the draft and about foreign activity. Also, if we were using majority rules, Bush would not have been president in 2000, and we may well have had a “wartime Kerry to beat Bush (or any other GOP candidate) the second time around. Also, while we don’t have hanging chads, we do have statistics saying four percent of all votes are thrown out in every election. In some districts 50% of the African American population’s votes are thrown out when they represent no more than 15%. There is always corruption in the voting process, and Ohio is still under fire even if the press doesn’t cover it. You say it’s not a Christian, non-Christian thing, but truly the Republicans stole the religious base just as the Democrats always have the African American base. They constantly talked of morals and values even when there was nothing to support that statement. They made it sound as if everyone else was part of an immoral plot. I feel sorry the Republicans reflect your views (and 70% of the views of white males nation wide). I feel sorry you have so much anger inside you that you have not been able to vote Democrat but once since Abe came into office. I feel sorry you have your “different views So yes, you are an idiot, only time will finally reveal the stupidity of this nation. Hopefully historians will not be as good at spinning rhetoric as the Republicans are.

Im canadian, and i am sadened to hear bush won the election. I wish i could vote in the U.S. because the decisions made effect the whole world. I was born christian and jew. I do not beleive works of fiction. Politicians are liers, and your country is soaking in bigotry, founded by ignorance. Bush before being elected had never left the U.S., this speaks volumes. Hail the new monarchy, and his corporate colonizers.
