I am watching Angus again for probably the 100th time right now. Every time I watch it, I see something I haven't before, something that reminds how great it is. This time I noticed another minor actor in the movie that turned out to be much bigger later on. When I first watched Entourage, I thought Kevin Connolly looked familiar, and now I know why. He played Andy, one of Rick Sanford's henchmen. I'm sure Kevin, like many of the young actors who starred in the movie, thought it was going to be their ticket, that the movie was going to be huge. If the movie had come out just a few years later, I'm sure that would have been the case.
I've already written several paragraphs about why I love the movie so much. I'm not writing this to do that again. I'm writing this to do my part in saving this wonderful gem of a movie from extinction. Now that VHS is done, if a DVD release doesn't happen then Angus will slowly fade away. It deserves more than that. I'm not 100% sure, but since the film was released and distributed on video by Turner Entertainment, I am pretty sure that Warner Bros. owns the distribution rights. If this is not the case then I would ask someone to comment or email me with the correct information. With Warner's new Warner Archive which allows for manufactured on demand DVDs, there is no reason why Angus shouldn't be released. I mean, I think it would do just fine if it got an actual release, especially if we finally got the Director's Cut that has only previously been shown a handful of times on TV, but at this point I will take anything I can get. So this is where you, the fans, come in. It will only take a minute of your time. Go to the Warner Contact Page and fill out the form, letting them know you would like to see Angus on DVD. You can even just copy what I wrote:
Hello! My name is Brendan Creecy and I am a HUGE fan of the movie Angus, which was released by Turner Entertainment in 1995. It was never released to DVD and the VHS release has been discontinued. If you go to the VHS release's Amazon page, you will see the pages and pages of positive reviews that ask for a DVD release. The movie has a 6.2 rating on IMDB, which is above average. As far as stars go, you have 3 Oscar winners (George C. Scott, Kathy Bates, and Rita Moreno) as well as popular younger stars such as James Van Der Beek and Kevin Connolly (currently on Entourage) as well as a fantastic soundtrack. You could use any of these factors to market the DVD. I am convinced that if this movie was released just a few years later during the teen movie boom, it would have been huge instead of mostly forgotten. Please don't let this underrated gem get lost again. With your new Warner Archive, there is no reason for that to happen. Thank you for your time.
So get to it kids. Even if you've never seen the movie, know that you'll probably never get to unless we make this happen. I urge any fan out there to repost this to their blog, facebook, whatever. I honestly think if we can let them know how much people want this, they just might listen. Thank you.
