Lazy Saturday

Almost didn't post today, but it wasn't entirely my fault. I was getting some errors when I tried to get to the site. Thanks Danny for being the man.

Let's see... the DMV is officially stupid. Not that that's news, but that fact was reaffirmed for me today. When I had to register my car many months ago, I was told I had to get a test only smog check. I did this and failed. In order to pass the smog check and get my registration, I had to get my car repaired. I did not have money for this but thankfully there is a program in place for folks who fail test only smog checks. Several weeks later I was approved for the program, took my car in, got everything worked out, and then my sticker and registration card never came. I then called the DMV to see what was going on. The lady told me they never got my smog certificate. This was all she could tell me. Since a few months had passed and I had assumed my certificate was sent electronically, I had misplaced my paper certificate. I also had to figure out when to go to the DMV since they are only open one Saturday a month. So I had to travel to the place I got my smog check done. After much searching the mechanic found my smog certificate. This was two weeks ago. Today the DMV was open so I go in there. The lady then tells me the only reason I haven't recieved my tags is apparently I still owed $17, which could have been paid online ages ago. It had nothing to do with my smog check. Bah. At least I finally have my sticker.

In other things, if you have 17 minutes to spare be sure to check out my friend Ely's movie Meeting Kevin. It's a great little peek into our little View Askew community. Ely's story is very heartfelt and well done.

Hope you guys are all having a good weekend. Despite my DMV success, I'm feeling kind of blah. Take care folks.
