heyo, well... i watched a pbs special on the string theory and it was pretty darn interesting. it's complicated pretty much but the documentary i watched put it into layman terms for me. so... here goes:
the string theory is said or thought to bring together matter (all things that happen within this world like gravity). it helps unify physics theories under one theory so that it works (or makes sense) mathematically, consistently, and logically. so, from atoms to electrons to: loops of strings (or not looped). i think there's actually 7 or 8 types of string theory. what the string theory does that the theory of relativity can't do is bring harmony. this could be the theory Einstein was looking for, the one theory that served as the umbrella. while in chicago over thanksgiving i went to the field museum (freaking huge btw) and they had a corridor all aboot einstein... heavy heavy stuff. i still don't get it completely but it helps to write it out and try to explain it to someone else. so the string theory is the one theory that can explain how physics and matter really work together and why we don't just float away or blow up or whatever... if they figure it out (and hopefully they can help explain it so i don't goof it up anymore than i already have) then it's big history in the making... like michael jordan or babe ruth. now you've got me thinking more about it... anywho, big heavy complicated stuff. and i hate math too... sometimes.
