It Starts in Japan

The revolution has begun. As expected, it started in Japan under the cover of "Roppongi Art Night." As crazy conspiracy theorists and creationists, the Brendo-Team knows what is really afoot. Here are pics of the carnage:

Who said this?

If we don't stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we're going to have a serious problem coming down the road.

Something that Steven does not eat.

relevintage: Why Hicks?

I hope that America voted Taylor its fifth American Idol because ‘America’ is interested in substance. [Taylor still has to show that the breadth of his career will be of substance…]
And what do I mean by substance? Think Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Duncan Sheik.
It’s no mystery that Top 40 radio is littered with urban sexual innuendo, sell-out emo, vanilla adult alternative, or schmaltzy pop. This music has no ability to stand the test of time. In my opinion, we will not be appreciating much of what is on radio right now in another fifty years.

A million more pieces of responsibility

Came across this today in a e-mail I got. People been gettin upset 'round here lately, so I thought I would get in on the action.

Do poor blacks really need to hear "millions more" excuses why black men can't be faithful to one woman and be responsible for the children they bear? Or why they can't get an education because white people hate us?

Do poor blacks really need another venue for hip-hop multimillionaires to explain, in four-letter epithets, that blacks suffer because George W. Bush doesn't care about them? This while these moguls get richer by the day peddling black booty on BET, inspiring black kids to live the life that guarantees to keep them poor?

Despite Farrakhan's supposed objective to "empower" poor folks, he should understand, as more and more blacks are beginning to understand, that he, and other long-standing traditional black leaders, really promote quite the opposite.

Poor blacks do not need to be "mobilized" to turn even more responsibility for their lives over to others. They need to go to school and take care of their families. The place where this needs to take place is within a couple-mile radius of where they live. It certainly won't take place on the National Mall in Washington...

...The work that blacks need to do in Washington today is to reduce government interference with black individual lives, families and communities to solve our own problems. We need to increase the freedom we have to choose how to educate our children and to increase the control we have over our income and savings....

Save Public Broadcasting

Apparently, NPR and PBS are at risk of losing all of their government funding, which would make them entirely dependent on donations for operating expenses, and would likely shut down broadcasting stations in the poorest regions of the country (like Kirksville!). This would be disastrous. Many people like myself depend on NPR as the last bastion of quality broadcast journalism in America. According to Free Press, attempts by government officials to discredit NPR as liberally biased actually reveal that Americans see it as an unbiased media outlet--and with good reason. While the ratings-driven media rely on sensationalism and celebrity gossip to attract viewers, NPR continues to report on important news, often providing stories that go uncovered by corporate media. America needs NPR now more than ever.

If you feel as strongly about this as I do, then sign this petition.

Aw Crap.

Cruise Says Holmes 'Digs' Scientology - Yahoo! News

Tom Cruise says girlfriend Katie Holmes "digs" the Church of Scientology. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cruise says the 26-year-old "Batman Begins" actress is curious about Scientology, founded by L. Ron Hubbard.

"Yes, absolutely. She digs it," the 42-year-old actor tells the magazine.

Well, that's that. I think she's officially off my list.

US Nuclear Stockpile

Ben's BB's - TrueMajorityACTION

Here's a short video (.swf) featuring Ben, the guy that makes the ice cream with his pal Jerry. He illustrates the destructive power that the US has in its nuclear arsenal. I think we're right to be concerned about Iran and North Korea, but maybe we need to be asking questions about our own country, too.

How to hack Paris.

Paris Hilton Hack Started With Old-Fashioned Con

When hotel heiress Paris Hilton found out in February that her high-tech wireless phone had been taken over by hackers, many assumed that only a technical mastermind could have pulled off such a feat. But as it turns out, a hacker involved in the privacy breach said, the Hilton saga began on a decidedly low-tech note -- with a simple phone call her own stupidity.

How not to be poor

Walter E. Williams: How not to be poor

It has been a while since I [ have upset anyone / had anyone freak out on me ] around here, so I thought I would give it a try.

Walter E. Williams gives a meathod on how not to be poor. Beware, it is laden with self-responsibility.

The short version:

  1. Graduate from high school
  2. Get married before you have children
  3. If you are married, stay married
  4. Work at any kind of job, even one that starts out paying the minimum wage
  5. Avoid engaging in criminal behavior

If you follow these easy to learn simple steps, you can not be poor. All by yourself even!

For those of you in charge of a government, teach these easy to learn simple steps to your youth and wait a generation. The results will astound you.

Please note that is does not apply to all situations, such as people that have already broke some of the rules. It is merely a guide for those who are young and about make the decisions listed in the guide.
